Regular Band Parents Meeting

February 7, 2008

 

Chris Garcia called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

 

Mr. Brown opened the meeting with prayer.

 

Sherrie Hines went over the minutes from the previous meeting and Lynn McCoy made a motion to approve the minutes and Cindy Mayo 2nd the motion.

 

Milisa Denton went over the Financial Statement, Steve Smith made a motion to approve it and Alan Kemper 2nd the motion.

 

Transportation:

We have wiring problem with the coach bus.

 

Concessions:

Cindy Mayo said she didn’t need any volunteers in concessions for this Saturday’s pageant.

 

Pageants:

Sweetheart Pageant to be held February 9th at M.H.S.

Miss Milan High School Pageant to be held March 10th at 7:00 p.m. at M.M.S.

Junior Mr. & Mrs. Milan Pageant to be held March 15th at 6:00 p.m. at M.H.S. Band room

Mr. & Miss. Gibson Co Pageant to be held April 12th at 6:00 p.m. at M.H.S. Band room

 

A few more volunteers are needed for the Sweetheart Pageant.

Leave the decorations for the band students to take down on Monday.

Patty is looking for judges because the 2 she had asked now have the flu.

 

M.H.S. Update:

Mr. Brown reported that the Jazz band will be playing at the pep rally tomorrow and the chorus will be singing.

Anyone that needs the Jazz band to play – please talk to Mr. Brown

Jazz band may be playing at other school systems.

 

M.M.S. Update:

Mr. Reeves said that Abby Lambert won All-West.

Concert at M.M.S. will be in March before spring break.

 

The cotton trailer that has our aluminum cans in it has holes and is allowing the cans to blow out.  We need to patch the holes.

 

6 band students have been selected to go to Quad State they are:  Eliza, Rachel, Chelsey, Bradon, Kristen, Wesley and Jonathon.

 

Kristen Garcia is trying out for Drum Major with The Memphis Sounds and Dylan Bodiford (2007 grad) is trying out for snare.

 

Bike Ride:

Steve Smith and Tim Hayes are heading the bike ride.  Steve said that T-Shirts are a big profit.

You can ride in cars or bikes, it doesn’t matter, everyone is welcome.

 

 

 

 

Please remember to bring auction items!!

 

No 4 year trip due to lack of funds.

 

March we will be nominating officers for the 2008-2009 school year.

April we will vote on officers.

Senior trip – we will allocate $50 each.
